Since 1926, Camp Green Lane has been considered one of the best summer camps in Pennsylvania. Tucked in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, just a 60-minute drive from Philadelphia, Camp Green Lane provides a fun, family atmosphere, where children cultivate friendships, character, and lifetime memories.
Our dynamic daily program emphasizes participation, skill building, and teamwork through a combination of athletics, aquatics, the arts, and adventure. We emphasize choice within structure, meaning that out of a bunk’s seven daily periods, five have been predetermined according to age-appropriateness and interest level, while the other two are open for choice. Campers choose a new Clinic (athletic pursuit) and Elective (hobby) each week to either further their current skill set, or to try something completely new. We also offer day-long intensive camps-within-a-camp where campers have an opportunity to work with professionals and coaches in areas like basketball, cooking, art, lacrosse, SCUBA, to name just a few.
This tried-and-true scheduling method ensures that our campers have a well-rounded summer experience, and come home with new interests and hobbies.
Along with our incredible daily program, we sprinkle in just the right amount of special events and trips to keep campers on their toes. Special events include Halloween in July; a carnival with games, rides, and prizes; the CGL Olympic Games; have a Battle of the Divisions; put on camp shows; and so much more! Out-of-camp trips take us to places like bowling, ice skating, Dorney Park, Hershey Park, mini golf, and movies, just to name a few. The best week of the entire summer though, according to most of our campers, is Color War. Campers are split into green and white teams who engage in fierce-but-friendly competition to see who will emerge victorious.
Our top priority is the happiness, health, and safety of every camper in our care. Our infirmary is staffed round-the-clock by a doctor, 2 RNs and a “camp mom”. Grand View Hospital is just seven miles from camp should the need for extra attention arise. Our spacious dining hall is a place for our summer family to come together three times a day for delicious and nutritious meals that our campers love. We are a nut-free campus and can provide special menus for our friends with dietary restrictions.
Our staff is, bar-none, the best in the camping business. They attend a week-long orientation so that they are prepared to care for our campers before they arrive. Our seven division supervisors are all parents and teachers, making sure that the children in their care are having the best possible experience. Supervisors are available by both phone and email to connect with parents if questions or concerns should arise.
