It’s our last day of orientation and the eve of the first day of camp!!!

Camp Green Lane is READY for campers! We have spent all week learning about how to provide the best, safest, and most fun experience for all of our kids and staff. We’ve had thorough trainings and important conversations on how to support all campers, best practices to keep everyone safe, and even discussed the incredible responsibility and honor it is to care for these campers this summer.

We’ve also had a LOT of fun getting to know one another.  Some of our counselors are here from abroad (particularly the UK), and it’s been entertaining to watch them experience some “American” firsts, like making s’mores at our campfire earlier this week.

We are also very excited that there is at least one counselor in every cabin who has previously experienced CGL, whether as a camper or staff, so if any first-timers need help adjusting and acclimating, they have a CGL pro nearby at all times.

There has also been a lot of laughter and play this week; we’ve had a trivia night, embraced friendly competition with a lot of energetic team games, and even invented some games of our own! I particularly love walking around at night, seeing everyone on the basketball courts, teaching each other skateboard tricks, or stargazing in the soccer fields. Everywhere you look, there are new friendships being made and old traditions passed along to new CGL family.

Today, we get to continue trying out different activities that our campers will be experiencing in their daily schedules like basketball, baseball, cooking, dance, and drama. The fields and lawns are being mowed, the dining hall is all set up, our welcome signs are ready – the only thing missing are CAMPERS!!

Try to get some rest tonight – tomorrow is the big day!!! Campers, we will see you in the Circle tomorrow morning!!

ONE MORE SLEEP UNTIL CAMP!!!
