Camp Green Lane Blog Post
Happy Yayday!
Today was another beautiful, sunny day, perfect for enjoying everything that Camp Green Lane has to offer.
Yesterday was our very first Camp Within a Camp, which is where we bring in professionals from various specialties to lead programs for groups of campers. These add-on experiences are always popular, and with this being our first year conducting them since pre-covid, it is a welcome sight to have them back to CGL!
Yesterday was the Dance Camp Within a Camp with Project Moshen, an amazing all-female jazz dance company out of Philadelphia. Campers had a great time learning a new routine and crushing some awesome dance moves.
Today was our Scuba and the first day of our Matt Paul Basketball Camp Within a Camp! Campers were able to see the pool from a whole new perspective using scuba gear underwater, and our basketball participants picked up some great tips from our visiting basketball specialist. All in all, our campers are getting some pretty unique opportunities this summer that haven’t been offered in the past few years, and it’s great to see them exploring something brand new!
In the coming days/weeks, campers will also be enjoying Soccer, Cooking and Lacrosse Camp Within a Camps, which we’re sure they’re going to love.
Tonight, campers will discover which Olympics team they are a part of – Mammals, Birds, Reptiles, or Fish! They have a few days to learn their Olympic song and cheer to be performed on Friday, along with preparing for a full day of exciting events they’ll be competing in on behalf of their team. While you may think of events like diving, volleyball, and water polo when you think of Olympic events, our will include some CGL original classics like Wacky Relay Races, Tennis Baseball, Slip n’ Slide Kickball, and Whirlyball. You can view the teams here to see what team you will be rooting for at home!
Also tonight, we’ll be enjoying our second Pals Night! The Inter Boys and Senior Boys will be enjoying their first campfire of the summer, the Inter Girls and Senior Girls will be unwinding with a spa night, and our Cadets are headed out for an evening at Freddy Hill Farms for mini golf and soft serve. It’s a great evening to be a CGL camper!
