Camp Green Lane Blog Post-July 19th
Last night we had another installment of Pal activities! While the Debs and Greek girls chilled out with a Spa night and Cadets and Greek Boys played cards, the Inter Boys and Senior Boys had something new. They participated in a 4 on 4 Basketball Tournament. Each team consisted of 2 Senior boys and 2 Inter Boys and let me tell you it was a blast. The Inter boys loved playing with their Older Pals and the Senior Boys really made sure to keep the little ones excited and involved.
During the tournament I saw the reason the Camp Green Lane Pal program is so beneficial. After one of the games, an Inter Boy was a little upset about having lost. His older Pal picked him up and took him on a walk to the water fountain to talk about it. I overheard the Senior boy talk to him about how we need to be a good sport and sometimes we don’t always win. He spoke about how they could practice together to get better for next time and asked him to come back to the court and cheer on the other teams. They high fived and walked back to the court together smiling. It was great to see the older Pals being such great role models and taking their job seriously. They may not realize it, but they are teaching their younger Pals lessons that will last a lifetime.
Today, we had Soccer Camp within a Camp all morning. The campers learned and practiced soccer skills and had a ton of fun. We also had our annual UltimateFrisbee Camp where each division learned more about Ultimate Frisbee and played some games. It was such a beautiful day and we’re hoping this cooler weather lasts! 5 days till visiting day, See you all soon!
