Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 22nd

Today was Someday on our schedule and we woke up to a cooler day than days past! There was not a cloud in the sky as the kids enjoyed a beautiful morning here in Camp Green Lane.

We had our infamous Cooking Camp here at camp today! Cooking Camp is held during our first three periods of the morning and it is a full on top chef competition! The campers have the honor of working with professional chefs in our camp kitchen! There were 4 chefs who joined us today. Three of the chefs are Camp Green Lane alumni, and two of the chefs have children here with us.

The kids are broken into 4 teams, each with one of the professional Chefs leading the way. The theme this summer was International Street Food and each team was tasked with creating a three course meal. The kids had a blast cooking in the kitchen together and learned a lot of new skills! Everyone received custom Camp Green Lane aprons and they can’t wait to show their family their new skills in the kitchen when they arrive home!

Everyone agreed their favorite part of the day was getting to eat all of the delicious food they made! Some of the highlights were mexican street corn, napoli meatballs, hot dog banh mi, walking tacos, sloppy joes, french beignets and apple strudel. YUM!

The meals were judged at lunch and the winner of the 2019 Camp Green Lane Top Chef was Chef Chad Rosenthal!
