Camp Green Lane Blog Post-July 23rd

Today it was as if Visiting Day never happened! We went right back into our regular schedule starting the rotation over with Someday. Hopefully we can get one more full rotation in by Color War, but who knows when that is going to happen! The anticipation is starting to build as I have started to hear the first guesses about when it will happen. Some theme ideas that have been circling around are Green Broccoli, and White Cauliflower, Green Grass and White Sky, Green Wizards and White Warriors and finally my favorite Green Ice cream and White Chocolate. Don’t we have such creative campers!

One of my favorite things to hear is an older camper telling a younger camper about their first color war break and letting them know what to expect. I know I will remember my first color break for the rest of my life. It was a night break, I was just getting into bed after an evening activity of Message to Garcia. I had already taken my shoes off and the first boom went off. I remember the only shoes I could find were my black platforms that I wore for dances. So I put them on and ran down to the tree my older brother told me to meet him at when color war broke. Thank you Dan Levin for looking out! We met at the tree and walked down to the lake where there was a laser light show and an alien sitting on the big rock that used to be in the middle. The two other booms went off and that was color war! I thought it was amazing! My heart was pounding and there was excitement everywhere. I am so excited for the new campers to get their first color war memory that they will never forget. So watch out for those booms!
