Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 2nd

Happy Carnival day! Last night we had our Carnival Lip Sync and the theme was Jobs. All of the campers did such an amazing job but we could only crown 1 winner! The winner was the Cubs and Hyatt with their rendition of “In the Navy” and let me tell you, it was adorable! They will receive a special canteen treat.

Today was our annual Camp Green Lane Carnival and it was awesome! We had all the favorites; rides and slides in the pool and cadet boy long, booths in the dome, Ritas water ice, pretzels, popcorn and lots of prizes. The water guns seemed to be the big hit of the day. All the kids had a blast playing games and getting prizes. I love to see where people hang out at Carnival. It’s interesting to see who likes the booths more, who plays on the rides and what Rita’s flavors are the favorites. We definitely can put this on in the books as a great Carnival day.

Tonight we will have our first dance and crown our annual Carnival King and Queen. I love this camp tradition because it gives us a chance to look at the past and see all the generations of people still at camp. We call up all past queens and kings, color war captains and camper captains. It really shows that people come back to CGL as long as they can and love it. Can’t wait to see who we will add to this list tonight!
