Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 5th
Last night, Camp Green Lane had a blast at the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs game! The Iron Pigs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies and CGL watched them take on the Pawtucket Red Sox at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown. Campers were treated to premium seats along the first base line and indulged in all of the tasty ball park food. With the score 10-6 Red Sox going into the 9th inning, the Iron Pigs scored 5 runs and won the game on a walk off 2 run home run! We then put our 3-d glasses on, sat back, relaxed while the stadium celebrated Independence Day with an amazing fireworks show! What a night!
Today we gave a everyone a little extra rest and had our first 10:00am breakfast of the summer and then the Carnival came to Camp Green Lane! Our Carnival booths filled the Dome and transformed it into our very own Camp Green Lane Carnival! We had all different booths set up for the campers and counselors to enjoy and each bunk had a blast running their very own booth! There were our classic booths like bowling, ring toss, bobbing for apples, face painting, tire throw, and the tattoo parlor as well as new ones like broom hockey, coin toss, the dizzy lizzy soccer kick and so much more! Our campers loved winning tickets from the booths and using them to purchase fun prizes from Sigma’s prize table! This year, some favorite prizes included flamingo water guns, funky printed slap bracelets, neon sunglasses, nerf balls and more!
Along with our booths, we filled Cadet Boy Lawn and our pool with amazing inflatable rides for everyone to enjoy! We had the Eurobungy, Gladiator Joust and Obstacle Course on our lawn and the always popular Beach Blast and Gold Mine in our pool.
In between the kids enjoying the rides and booths, everyone grabbed some of our delicious carnival food! We had Rita’s Water Ice, Philly Pretzel Company, cotton candy and popcorn to fill everyone’s bellies and top off the most perfect day!
Tonight we have our first dance of the summer where we will crown our Carnival King and Queen! Previous Kings and Queens as well as previous Color War Captains will get to join them on the dance floor for a special dance.
Plenty more exciting days of camp are still ahead, as well as lots of special events, and we can’t wait!
