Camp Green Lane Blog Post July 6th

Carnival was amazing! Not only did we get a beautiful day but everyone had an amazing time. We started off with finding out the winner of the 2016 carnival skits. It was Gamma and the A’s with their wonderful rendition of Titanic. Then after a regular morning the camp was ready for Carnival 2016. Each cabin set up their carnival booth in the Dome booths like football throw; guess that song, water gun shooting gallery and mini golf. There were giant inflatable rides both all over cadet boy lawn and in the pool, and then of course the carnival food. We had popcorn, Philly soft pretzels, cotton candy and finally Rita’s water ice. Campers played games to win tickets for prizes like color war spirit wear and mini water guns. They voted for the 2016 King and Queen, took pictures in the photo booth and just enjoyed the day. Every year we have a BBQ dinner for carnival which all the campers love. Then it was time for our first dance of the summer.

Campers and counselors headed to BB1 around 8 o’clock. After some dancing it was time to announce this summer’s Carnival King and Queen. The entire camp voted for 1 upper senior boy and girl to fill the spots. The 2016 King and Queen were Jack Briguglio and Sophia Busto. All pas kings and queens and past color war captains also join them in their first dance. This moment at camp really shows a lot of history. It is awesome to see the generations come back and be called up for the dance. The DJ was amazing and it really rounded out a perfect carnival day!
