Camp Green Lane Summer Blog Post–July 16th

, July 16, 2017

Tonight’s Blog post was written by one of our Greek Campers, Alexandra Sherman about the Greek Trip last week.  The Greek division is our 10th and 11th graders who go on a 2 night/3 day trip each summer.

On the morning of July 10th, the Greek division left for a 3 day-2 night trip full of activity and adventure! Before reveille, we loaded the bus and settled in for a long 5 hour drive. After the showing of 3 movies, many bathroom breaks and stops for food, we arrived at our first activity, cave spelunking at Laurel Caverns! We had a brief orientation but then we were off into the caves with only the light from our headlights. For 3 hours we crawled and jumped over rocks and tried not to bump our heads! The most exciting part of this expedition was when our guide challenged us all to crawl through part of the cave with our headlights turned off! It was super fun! When we left the caves in our mud & dirt stained clothes we boarded the bus again and finally got to Seven Springs Ski Resort. After, we cleaned off and had dinner. Since it had started to rain, instead of night tubing we played very competitive games of bowling in the alley in the hotel. The next day, after breakfast in Aunt Rene’s room, we drove to a natural waterslide. Since there was a storm the night before, the waterslide was too rough to ride, so a daring few went and swam in the bottom of the waterslide where it was calm and it was freezing! After we left it was only a short drive to our next activity, white water rafting! We split up into groups of no more than 6, got our helmets and life vests on, and had a safety talk and then headed onto the river. It was so fun even though the paddling required lots of upper body strength! We ate lunch on the river and we all got soaked by the rapids! It was so fun! That night it rained again so we couldn’t have a mountaintop campfire, but we got pizza and played the most intense games of bingo that I’ve ever played. The night ended with a relaxing outdoor campfire once the rain ended and we made s’mores and hung out as a division which was nice. The next day, our last day, we got an unlimited activities wristband which included most of what the resort had to offer, such as hydrobikes, tubing, bungee jumping, rock climbing, and a lot more! All of them were so cool! Then unfortunately it was time to leave so we got back on the bus, watched more movies until we got to Chiaro’s where we had pizza for dinner which was so good. We got back to camp at 8:30 pm after a long but exciting day. Overall, the Greek trip was so fun and it was so great to spend time with the Greeks and bond with each other even though everyone missed the camp environment!!
